EMPLOYEES
How much social insurance does an employee pay in Cyprus?
8,8% of gross pay, withheld from every payslip, on earnings up to €68.904 a year for 2026 (€5.742 a month, €1.325 a week). Your employer pays another 8,8% on top of your salary, plus 2% to the Social Cohesion Fund, 1,2% to the Redundancy Fund and 0,5% to the HRDA — 15,4% of on-costs in total once GESY's 2,9% employer share is counted. The self-employed pay 16,6% themselves. These contributions are what build your state pension, and for employees they also buy unemployment benefit, which self-employed contributions do not.
